If you were to compare speed, virus detection and ease on resources I
would have to say NoD32. For a higher detection rate Kaspersky would
have that. It all depends upon what you want, but just about anything
beats EZ, including notepad. >> Stay informed about: EZ ANTIVIRUS is slow and poor compared to prev version, wh.. |

I'm running EZ r7, it works pretty well compared to r6, as I understand it,
there have been a few bugs discovered and a version 7.0.2.0 is in beta to
reslove some of the issues you mention, don't be so quick to jump ship, EZ
AV is a quality product, I've used it for years and it has never failed to
perform, it has it's glitches like all the rest as they release new
versions.

I like it and have been using it since the days when it was free. The thing
I do notice is that it takes 2% more of my resources.

Add me to the List of confirmed EZ Trust users. I have used it since
InoculateIT PE days and I like it. It has never let me down once. If I had
any complaints (minor ones really), it is trying to navigate their website,
but they are changing that, they told me.
Norton & McAfee are two I would NOT recommend. Both bloatware.

I don't particuarly like the new GUI myself, I liked the old DOS look and
feel, but I like the overall product, and like you, I have used it since
September 1999 when it was free.

The only trouble I've ever had was upgrading through their web site, never
with the product itself. The last time, I went through every screen and at
the end, never got a confirmation but it looked like my order went though.
I could not get a hold of customer service so eventually, I redid it and it
went through.

Hi Roland.......yes, I agree totally. I find that renewing each year can be
quite baffling at times. But I do have an address for support that I use
and did find one on their updated website.
Cheers......Heather

I give a big thumbs up to eTrust EZ AV. Version 7 uses a tad more resources
than v6 but overall it's minimal relative to most of the other AV's out
there. And the size of the application itself (less than 4 MB) is another
plus.

Nothing wrong with EZ Antivirus except that earlier version was better.

The renewal process used to be a pain in the ass, as the customer
would pay the renewal charges on the website, then get an email that
contained a new license key which must be plugged into the program by
a roundabout means, then the computer rebooted. All that went by the
boards with either v6.2 or v6.3. Now, you pay up and the next time
the program checks the server for sig file updates, it automatically
updates the registration information on your computer. This is
infinitely better than the old system; about a year ago, I had one
customer who thought everything was over once he'd paid his renewal
charges and never even bothered to read the email. His antivirus
protection expired and a few months later he was infected with a
couple of nasty viruses.

I used EZ since the days of Innoculate IT. The new versions 7r was giving

Can you give some more details? This kind of statement really doesn't
help much.
- What files were scanned and how (on-demand scanner?) Got a log?
- Were the same files scanned with 7 as with 6.x? (otherwise, it's a
meanigless test)
- How long did the scan take exactly, compared to the older version? >> Stay informed about: EZ ANTIVIRUS is slow and poor compared to prev version, wh.. |

"why do they call this progress?"
"simpler interface" - You prefer a more complicated inferface, do you?
I don't get your point. Sounds like progress to me.
"less options" - If there was a simpler way to achieve the same thing
with less options, then yes, it's progress. What options do you think
you need which are missing? BTW, some "advanced" options are in Scan
Settings Alt-D. It's a bit like saying you don't like your car to
have fuel injection, because you miss being able to adjust the old
carburator with a screw-driver yourself.
"much slower at scanning" - how did you work out it is slower? What
tests did you run and what are the results? >> Stay informed about: EZ ANTIVIRUS is slow and poor compared to prev version, wh.. |
