Post subject: Bitdefender, .dbx files and gmail

I've just done a virus check-up using some online antivirus services,
such as McAfee, Norton and Bitdefender.
Among these, only Bitdefender recognised Win32.Netsky.P@mm virus in
several emails enclosed in a .dbx file (created by OE6). I received
these emails via a gmail account.
Bitdefender noticed me about the identifying number of the infected
emails and suddenly deleted them, without any further information, such
as Subject, Date and so on. However, these messages are still being on
gmail server, and in my backups too.
I'd like to identify these messages, so i could notice the sender(s).
How can i do?
Besides, i knew that gmail had a virus filter, isn't it?

I am pretty darn sure that there is NO antivirus on Google Mail. I just
went all over the site of mine. Nada.
Why don't you have an antivirus on your computer?? Using online
services is like shutting the barn door after the horse escapes. There
are free ones out there like EZ Trust, AVG and Avast.
Try running it again with anything except Bit Defender to see if there
is anything left on your computer.......or download a free antivirus
program, which is the far better solution.

PS......Notifying the senders is useless. They do not exist. They did
not send those to you, in all likelihood. The From sigs are forged.

I HAVE an antivirus on my computer, running in real time scan, too.
However it doesn't recognise 100% of viruses, AFAIK like every other
antivirus. So when I notice some malfunctioning, I'm used to verify my
HD with other free antivirus online.

Pardon, Heather, but I'm able to recognise spam and treath it the right
way. I'm sure those messages come from a contact of mine. Can you help
me to identify them?

Oops.....mea culpa. I have never had a virus in GMail and was looking
for an obvious mention of an AV program such as Hotmail or Yahoo has.
I only use it for genealogy.......not general usage. Those Lists are
generally virus-free.

OK....I have already admitted I was wrong (not to mention dead-tired).
I don't use GMail for other than one specific purpose, so had no reason
to worry about that.

Nah......my Italian is non-existent. But most of the spam I get is from
fakes addresses, which is why I said that.
