People recommend AVG for reasons other than it's detection capabilities.
They don't like the top contenders because of system resource impact. I
think the top contenders have added too much functionality (bloat) to their
programs and users are paying more attention to this these days.

Norton Anti-virus may not be the best you can get. There are other
standalone packages with better performance. I do use Symantec
Antivirus 10 because it is provided by my employer for our home
machines and has nowhere the effect on system resources that NAV does.
On the 30+ machines that we have it installed at work it has only
caused problems on one machine. A simple uninstall and reinstall
corrected that problem.

AVG-Avast - Can I run AVG and Avast alongside of on and other for comparison purposes.
