Archived from groups: alt>comp>anti-virus (more info?)

Since loading Avast (yesterday) I find that when I switch on my PC it want
to check my disc for errors.

Any ideas?

Avast has a boot up scan as well, but isn't checking for errors. Not sure
where in Avast free version it is but you should be able to disable the
boot-up scan function, this will stop it scanning every time it boots.

It seems to have resolved itself. Perhaps Avast upset something in the file
structure.

Avast problem - I have installed Avast 4.1 Pro on a trial basis. I'm generally quite happy with its virus protection, but it is causing serious display problems. Frequently when the on-access scanner message pops up to show files being scanned, it seriously affects the....
