I've noticed a definitely delay since I loaded Avast 4.5 with all it's
shields. I know that the Standard Shield and mail shields are necessary,
but is the Outlook/Exhchange, P2P, and Network Shields necessary if you're
not on a network and just using a cable modem (although some say that's
like being on a MONSTER sized network).

What's everyone's opinion of the Script Blocking? Necessary or not?

I know I see a slight delay every time I hit select an item on a web page.

I definitely recommend enabling the Network Shield, especially if you
have a broadband connection. It will compliment your existing firewall,
giving you added protection.

For the record, I'm referring to the Network Shield that comes with
Avast 4.5

Avast with Norton OK? - I am currently running NAV pro 2003 in 'auto-protect' mode via xp home. I thought I'd use Avast in 'scan-only' mode (meaning with Avast auto-protection off) as a second line of defense. Is this possible? Can Avast be installed without turning on avast..

Norton with Avast? - *Can I use these two together with Norton's scan email off. With it on, I don't get emails in OLE. Norton says I'm still protected from viruses, it is just that they are stopped when I try to open them. I'd rather have them stopped at the server..

AVAST vs Norton - I had been using Norton 2000 but now Symantec says they no longer support it. I installed AVAST. AVAST seems very slow compared to NAV, but I don't care because I run it in the middle of the night. However, AVAST claims a certain (text??) file is..

SLOW computer with Norton IS 2004 - I just installed Norton Internet Security 2004 on a 2 yr old computer as follows: Win 98 ME, AMD Athlon 1300 processor, 384 RAM, 10 GB HD with 7 GB Free. System performance before signing on the the internet(with Norton disabled) is 82%. After, online..

Norton SystemWorks Slow After 1/7/04 Update - I did the live update today and now everything is real slow. If I start an Office application, it says "Requesting Virus Scan..." and takes like 15-30 seconds before the app finishes coming up. Same thing if I open a file in the Office app. Jus...
