I've had this program forever; never had a problem with it, and I scan
often.
Now, however, it stalls out, usually in the microsoft\windows\currentversion
area. The only things different about the computer are that I've replaced
Norton with AVG and have 12Ghosts as a popup killer to replace Norton. I've
uninstalled Ad-Aware and rebooted; disabled AVG and 12Ghosts; and still, it
won't work.
Any ideas?
Thanks. >> Stay informed about: Question about Ad-Aware |

Have you tried downloading any updates? That might give you what you need. >> Stay informed about: Question about Ad-Aware |

I have WinME and found that the new version of AdAware 6 did not sit
well with it.......I uninstalled it and kept Spybot S & D.......no
problems with that proggie. I had had the old AdAware for a long time
too, with no problems ever!!
I may try AdAware 6 again and see if it was just that particular
install, but can't remember exactly what it was doing.......just that I
knew it had to be that one and I removed it.

Have you tried doing a bad block scan using scandisk?
I had a similar problem a while ago just as my hard disk started developing
hundreds of bad blocks.

I recently added Spy-Bot to my PC having had Ad-Aware for some time. I ran a
side by side comparison having deliberately visited websites that I
suspected would install spyware.
Each of them missed things that the other found. If you are that paranoid,
leave them both installed.

This is not an unusual phenomenon with software. Run a half dozen
registry cleaners against each other and you will get a similar
result.
