AVG7 Free, Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender

I had this type of error message returned to me on a couple of occasions
now. What is the likely cause?

Check the email address you're sending to. I saw this happen
yesterday on my father-in-law's pc and it turned out to be an invalid
email address.
