Obviously I'd have thought of that myself if I had half a brain:-)
I had to go into Safe Mode to do it for some reason, and even then I had to
delete every entry at
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\AVG7Uninstall
seperately because it wouldn't let me delete the whole lot at once.
All sorted now anyway, thanks for pointing out the obvious.
