When you install AVG, you should have an option on rather you wish to
install what it calls Resident Shield. This is a decent second scanner,
but if you're looking for a second opinion, try:
housecall.trendmicro.com (free online AV); Spybot S&D (from
www.safer-networking.org, and it's a free anti-spyware/adware tool);
Lavasoft AdAware (www.lavasoft.nu, a free anti-spyware/adware tool); and
finally; TDS3 (www.diamondcs.com.au, you can d/l a free 30 day trial
version). For all of these, make sure to get the latest updates, and I
hope you're able to resove this situation.
