Post subject: AVG 7.0
Archived from groups: alt>comp>anti-virus, others (more info?)
As a user of AVG6 I was invited to upgrade Free to AVG 7.0 today. Which I
did.
After several hours of instability in general, my MSOE just stopped working!
Every time I tried to start up the prog I got an Illegal operation error
from msimn.
Finally, after about 10 reboots and a reinstallation of OE, i gave up and
uninstalled AVG 7.0.
That fixed it!
Back to AVG 6.

AVG 7 works fine with WinXP as I am sure many others will tell you.
You seem to have a problem with your machine "set up"

I'm sure that MJD just forgot to disable the "First eliminate all
obvious viral risks" option, which naturally goes after OE first.
