AVG Free and "heuristic" tickbox?

Hi,
I need a little help the AVG free edition.
The "Use heuristic techniques" box will not stay ticked. I'll tick it and
close the requestor and then I'll look at it again and it's come unticked.
Most odd.
Can anybody help with this as AVG won't give TS to free edition users?

It stays checked for me in the free version. Are you clicking on 'Save
Parameters as New Default' after checking the box?
