How does McAfee handle updates on this program? Do they just release a new
..exe when needed.. seems to be the case but I didn't want to burn this to my
service cd unless I knew for sure.. anyone know?

If you respond to one of my posts please respond also via e-mail if possible

Yes, they just release a new build whenever a major new worm appears.

Currently up to 41 or so viruses/worms removed.

Interesting, thanks for mentioning vcleaner, I'd never heard of it.. seen
they had removal tools, but didn't see that tool... *looks again*

By the way, Dave: can I ask if there might be any point in running my
*other* anti-virus programs in 'safe mode'...? I do have a few unshiftable
trojans and things, after all...

Thanks again!

In XP running an antivirus in safemode really isnt that much different than
normal mode, unless of course safe mode is the only thing you can get to
work. The main concern in XP is viruses hiding in the System Restore.
Disable System Restore and then run your anti virus program.

Thanks for this.

What's driving me *mad*, you know, is that my AVG tells me that I've got
*three infections*, but that it *can't remove them*; and my other a-v
programs *don't even detect them*...!

I thought maybe the three infections would appear (and be treatable...) in
'safe mode'... But *no*...

Philip,

Sometimes AVG doesn't heal or quarantine files because they are either
compressed inside of another file, or a system file, can you tell me which
files its saying are infected?

Hi there.

Well, this is what I keep seeing when I try to clear 'Swizzor.T':

"C:\WINDOWS\70000041.exe... file could not be scanned!"

Is this why nothing will shift the thing...?
