A boot CD would be helpful. But, I don't think that would be a complete
solution, since it would be - at best - difficult to keep the malware
definitions up-to-date.
I think some anti-spyware programs will run from a usb drive, so
booting from a CD, then running the anti-spyware might work, if the
boot allows to the usb, and if the anti-spyware app works under the
boot CD's OS.
AV software is another matter. I know symantec will not run anyware
that it's not officially installed. I am not sure about other AV
software. >> Stay informed about: Will any AV, or anti-spyware, software do this? |

Get a screwdriver and remove the infected hard drive and conect it as
a slave to the server and then scan it.
That is the simplest and most straight forward way to scan a drive
that you can't trust to boot itself.
Why complicate your life by doing anything else? >> Stay informed about: Will any AV, or anti-spyware, software do this? |

I just found something called virusdrive by iocell.com. I don't know if
it's any good. Seems a interesting. >> Stay informed about: Will any AV, or anti-spyware, software do this? |

A variant of the above: use a USB-IDE adapter to connect the suspect
drive to the scanning PC. You still need to open up the PC, but you
don't need to remove the drive - just the data/power connectors. >> Stay informed about: Will any AV, or anti-spyware, software do this? |

Sophos's command line tool, SAV32CLI, will.
Possibly AntiVir, not sure.
