I have installed and uninstalled Norton System Works 2003 w/Norton Antivirus
3 or 4 times now. This last time I only chose to installed NAV. Autoprotect
will not turn on and e-mail scanning will not turn on. I've used live update
until I'm blue in the face. I can manually scan, which I have done using the
latest AV definitions (9-18-2003) and find no virus. I have even gone to the
Norton Website and ran their on line virus scan. When I rebooted after
installing NAV the last time, I got a message that suggested that I <again>
un-install NAV and re-install it as something, perhaps a virus is causing
NAV autoprotect to not function properly.
I'm running windows XP profession and have been using NAV for years without
this problem. My son did install a try before you buy version of McAfee
recently, but we un-installed that. Is it possible that McAfee has left a
little present for NAV? Surely they wouldn't play games like that would
they?
I like Norton products, systemworks, AV, PcAnywhere, Winfax pro, etc, but I
am getting damned frustrated with having to do multiple install/un-installs
with NAV and still not able to get autoprotect and auto email scans to
function.
Any help greatly appreciated. >> Stay informed about: Norton AV 2003 Won't install correctly |

If you're getting an error message, there's most likely a number associated
with it. Look in the lower left-hand corner and it will give you a number.

I've seen components of McAfee conflict with NAV. However, it's been more
the case that there are other things running in the background that cause
issues.
If you can get the error message (verbatim) or number then we'll (I) know
what to do.
