I just updated F-Prot Windows from 3.14e to 3.15 and I noticed that F-Prot
Antivirus Update Monitor is always running in the background: FPAVUPDM.EXE

I've never seen this "feature" before and it's a pain on my laptop. It seems
to keep it from going into Suspend mode.

I can't find any way of disabling this feature except in Msconfig.

Chas.

Thanks for the info but I'm running this on Win98 systems. I'm having
problems with 2 IBM laptops that worked fine before I updated to 3.15!
They both tend to hang going into suspend and don't come back up smoothly
even with FPAVUPDM.EXE removed.

I'm going to send Frisk a message on this.

Run F-PROT for DOS from CD? - Can I run F-PROT for DOS from a CD? ISTR that F-PROT for DOS filled 2 diskettes and probably now needs 3 diskettes. So I would prefer to burn a CD and run it from there. Does anyone know if this works?

F-Prot for Dos on XP - Hi, please forgive a possibly stupid Question. Before switching to WinXP I just got used to F-Prot for Dos. I think it's usefull to scan now and then before starting the OS. Now with WinXP I do miss this opportunity. Installing Win 98 just for F-Prot....

F-Prot FP-DEF.ZIP now too big for 1.44M - F-Pror FP-DEF.ZIP now too big for 1.44M I've been waiting for this to happen and wondering how F-Prot would deal with it (e.g. split SIGN.DEF into FD-DEF.ZIP and SIGN2.DEF into FP-DEF2.ZIP, which has been my strategy). They haven't acted yet, and..

Where is F-Prot 3.14c? - Where can I get F-Prot for DOS version 3.14c? The current version 3.14e has a problem that won't allow a scan to completion, as has been discussed here. I've been watching the F-Prot site to see if they will issue a fixed version, but none has..

F-PROT for DOS - how to run it on W2K and WXP? - It's easy in my Win98SE because I can reboot to DOS. I believe W2K has that ability, too? If so, then I can recommend it to W2K users. But what about XP? How does one get F-PROT for DOS to work in that OS? Thank you!
